OK, so as ive been researching and researching, ive now pretyt much come up with what i want to use for my whole home audio system, but i need a suggestion for an amplifier..

so what ive decided right now, 12 audio zones, Nuvo Grand Concerto running all 12, but 2 zones are unamplified, on these two zones i want to run about 8 speakers, so i was planning on using an amplifier and then a http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/quest-100-watt-speaker-switch-qls-8-1/10039572.aspx (speaker switch to split a right and left channel into 8 channels) now what i was told is i would need to also install a rocketfish volume switch http://www.rocketfishproducts.com/products/home-theater/RF-WSVCS.html for each set of speakers on those eight channels.. i was told i would need to have these for impedence or soemthing.. does this sound right?

anyways, please let me know what you think of that, but also any suggestions on a fairly cheap amplifier that can get the job done so i can plug the nuvo unamplified channels into it, and then have the amplifier output to the quest speaker switch and then out to my 8 channels?

Thanks.

also, i was just looking at this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rocketfish-RF-SSVC4-4-Pair-Stereo-Speaker-Selector-/140495022386?pt=Receivers_Tuners&hash=item20b627e932

would i still need the vollume controls per pair of speakers for the impedence problem?

thanks.

Generally, speaker selectors such as this do impedance matching of their own, so you would need nothing more than amplified outputs into this speaker selector. Having said that, you will essentially only have 1 zone for all speakers connected to this speaker selector, as they would all play the same source. You can also add volume controls in-line (after selector and before the speakers) so that you have a level adjustment local to the location that the speakers are located. However, with this setup, you could not turn the volume up louder than what the amplifiers volume level is - you would only be able to turn down the volume from that level.

I currently have a Pioneer AVR in my living room, that has the main zone (5.1) and it has a second zone that can have another source. I currently have this second zone connected to a similar speaker selector (6 zone), connected to speakers throughout my house. This was my cheap version of having whole-home audio for the time being. Sure, you dont get native control of source in each room, but I felt like it was better to have some ambient music in various rooms that I wanted than nothing at all.
