Need small powerline noise filter

Ok, I have ran into a problem where I have a GE z-wave dimmer switch next to a ceiling fan switch in the same box. The problem is when the lights are on and I turn the fan on/off the lights turn off. I was able to isolate the problem as being noise related by installing and X-10 XPF filter on the fan switch. This has solved the problem however the XPF filter is HUGE and won't fit in the box. Anyone know of a smaller filter that might work?

To get a visual, check out the thread on the issue over at the HS forums. http://board.homeseer.com/showpost.php?p=957086&postcount=25

Some folks in the X10 forums. Have had good luck with the Leviton 6287. As long as your load isn't over five amps.

I use the 6287 and it seems to work well. Z-wave is normally RF, so filtering the powerline should have no affect (in my mind), but I assume you are speaking of that GE kit that has a slave switch which communicates over a traveler wire. Given your experience with the XPF version, I expect you will solve your problem just as reliably with the 6287. I hope you have deep boxes. While the 6287 is small, it looks like you have a lot of fill with the wires and the fit may be very tight.

Looks like I will have to get my hands on a 6287 to actually see if I can make it work. This problem is with 2-wire GE dimmer not the 3-way kit. Actually I did try the master from the 3-way kit and it was more tolerable. The Homeseer thread has a lot more details.

It surprises me very much to see a normal Z-wave switch having problems with powerline noise. There must be something funny about that switch. I will check out the homeseer thread.

I just tried the link, and saw your picture. I saw only one post...not a lot of details about this switch and why it would be susceptible to powerline noise. Perhaps I simply don't know enough about Z-wave.

Sorry, I had only linked to one post. Here is the full thread. http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?p=957427
