Omni IIe will not recognize RC80 thermostats

Several weeks ago I had a RC80 thermostat malfunction, one of the electronic components on the back got extremely hot and the display went blank. I disconnected the unit and replaced it with a spare RC80. It did not respond to the Omni IIe controller. I soon discovered that the other RC80 on the controller could not be recognized as well since the incident with the bad therm. I’ve checked the wiring but all seems good, its the same wiring when both units worked previously, yet there is no control of the thermostats. I have confirmed the addressing of the units as 1 & 2, and the baud settings are 100 on both as well as the system options are set to "0", and Display options are set to "5"- non-programmable. I also cannot control from the console or PC Access yet I can do other things such as place the system in Day security mode. I returned the IIe for repair but it was returned with nothing found wrong.

Any troubleshooting ideas are welcomed.

Thanks.

I just tried J-bird 47's suggestion and found out that the other RC80 must have been damaged at the same time as the 1st one. When I took it off the network the "just replaced RC80" began to function and respond to the controller. I replace that them with the extra one i had and now they both are communicating.

Thanks to all...should have applied basic trouble shooting "cut your problem in half" .
