Omni Pro II LED House Numbers

Hello -

I recently purchased these LED house numbers and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with wiring and programing these. I want these lights to come on at sunset everynight and turn off at sunrise. I dont think that i can pull power from the OmniPro II so was thinking i would need some sort of transformer to power them.

If anyone can point me into the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Very nice LED powered house numbers.  Do you have to have a pair of wires per LED lamp / number?

Here I have gone to LED DC power supplies for my 12 VDC landscaping lighting controlled by UPB switche(s).

The specs on these state to utilize a standard doorbell transformer.  These are using around 12-24 Volts AC.

The doorbell button power supply is typically live at the doorbell (mine is used to do an LED illumination of the doorbell).

An output connection to a solenoid from the panel or a automation switch module to the transformer would work.

Easiest would be an automation switch (appliance) to the transformer controlled by the panel or if you want to utilize your doorbell transformer then a solenoid switch nearby.

I am currently wire the house now. I planned on running 22/4 for the LED's in the house numbers using a pair each to wire each light. I also ran 22/4 to the doorbell because I also want to install an LED doorbell. (I think I was reading a forum post by you about how you ran your doorbell).

Please bare with me as I am very new to this and am trying to learn.

So I would connect the lights to doorbell transformer and then run back to the panel. How would I go about hooking that up to the panel?

From description,
"

Says 12 - 16V AC/DC. One pair per number.

Simple way would be to plug the transformer for these into a UPB outlet, or any protocol you use, and turn that outlet on/off as needed.

I'm in the process of improving the LV landscaping lights on the house I bought. In my last house, I had UPB switches control the transformers, and the Omni control the switches. But i was at Home depot lately, and the newest Malibu transformers have a clock and light sensor, they can go on when its dark and off when its light, or off at a certain time. The entire transformer was $40 bucks. A UPB switch alone is $55+. You could use the same thing. Buy a 45 watt low voltage landscape transformer, set it to go from dark to light, and your done. The simplest solution is the best.

Yeah; here the LED doorbell is on 24/7 and it is not automated while the landscaping lighting is automated (well connected to the OPII panel).

My EL lighting (night lights) are on 24/7 and not automated.

From the web site description it almost sounds like the LED letters would be fine connected to your doorbell transformer 24/7.

Current regular 120VAC outdoor lighting just slowly ramps up brightness to about 25%.

Looks very attractive, and I like the idea.  The devil is in the details though: I wonder how well that acrylic backer will hold up to outdoor UV exposure?  It might go from white to yellow to brownish....
