Opinions Needed for HomeSeer PC: GMKtec M5 Plus Gaming Mini PC Ryzen 7 5825U

I'm in need of a computer running HomeSeer 4 only. My requirements are mainly reliability, price range around the $300 mark, and Windows 11 Pro, plus it would be nice if it fit inside a structured wiring cabinet.

I'm thinking of this one for $328:

GMKtec M5 Plus Gaming Mini PC Ryzen 7 5825U (Upgraded 7430U/ 5700U), 32GB RAM 1TB SSD Dual NIC LAN 2.5GbE Desktop Computers Office Home, Triple 4K Display, WiFi 6E, USB3.2, USB-C, BT 5.2, DP, HDMI 2.0

I like the heat sink/fan design as well as the all metal case. Components (RAM/CPU) seem sufficient for running HomeSeer.

I've read some reviews and watched this YouTube video; but, I'm far from an expert or up to date on the latest and greatest tech out there. Does anyone see any red flags? Anything better from your experience that I should also look at?

Thanks,

BSR

I'm not super familiar with HS4, but I don't see any red flags either. These NUC sized computers can do some pretty amazing things and still are pretty power efficient too.

Here running HS4 on a Lenova Tiny. It is a paperback sized computer. Purchased a few of these refurbished.

Today HS4 (running in Ubuntu Linux), CumulusMX and Home Assistant (on a virtual box). Its been years now.

Actually, that PC looks great. I wish I had seen that one before I bough the one I did. It is far beefier than what you need for HS4, but I am a firm believer in always using more speed and memory than you need.

My only minor concern is USBs and serial ports. I use a lot of them for HS4. So I prefer them to be built in, but you can always add USB and serial via the USB devices you do have.
