Any of you guys have any experience with the famous Panasonic TH-42PZ700U 7 flashes of death. We had a lightning storm night before last and now my pany is flashing. I've read where it can be one of 4 boards and I'm wondering if it's worth fooling with. It's only 2 years old so I wonder if a TV repair company would have any use for the TV?

I didn't read the post very much but maybe here would help:

Yes thanks, I saw this and further in the thread is where they explain it could be one of 4 boards each of which is about $100 if you do it yourself. So it appears that I have a really heavy paper weight :)

I feel your pain - only more slowly. Mine continued to work for a while before finally giving up

Well Panasonic has agreed to pay for the part but the labor to install it is almost $200 and it could be one of four board and possibly all of them. I guess this TV will become target practice. :)

Helped a friend with his new LCD purchase. Last years models have been heavily discounted to make room for the new 3D models. So you should be able to find something decent for less than 1K if you are willing to have 120 or 240Hz. These are not plasma though; if that is what your Panasonic was. They too are discounted.

My Toshiba's are doing well after about 3 years or so. They are not plasma and not used for gaming or similiar; just regular TV/HD stuff.
