Newbie here. I used to haunt the old Lantronix/Motorola/Yahoo forums on Premise. I bought it in its hayday.
I recently have a situation and I would like to find out, before investing too much time, if it is possible with Premise.
Situation: I have an Integra Receiver/DVD and Sharp 37" LCD that I need to control via RS232. I have a DVR that I built for the house security cameras that I can use for automation. The end user control would be a URC MX-850 IR/Radio handheld remote that would send IR to a Global Cache GC-IRE attached to a GC-100 serial in port. I own all hardware and software needed to make this happen (I think) so there is no investment in that regard.
Idea: IR command from MX-850 sends IR to GC-IRE. GC-IRE translates into serial hex to be sent to Premise which interprets that particular IR command and triggers a Serial command to be sent out to the a/v gear.
In my mind the biggest stumbling block is having Premise recognize one command and then send out another corresponding command via Serial. Maybe that is the easy part. I'm not sure.
Any advice or insight is welcome.
TIA
