I have an Elk M1 that has been up and running for about a year. I just now got around to adding the Elk 45 Siren outside and connected it to Output 2. I can hear a high pitched noise coming from the siren constantly. It is like a big mosquito in your ear when you get within 30 feet of the siren. I don't like the noise because it draws attention to the location of the siren. Is the noise something to be concerned about and is my siren defective?

Output 2 is a "monitored" output, meaning it always has a small amount of current going through it to detect if the line has been cut. Elk technical support has answered this question recently in their forum. You can see it here.
I knew it was supervised, but did not realize it would cause it to make the noise. Thank you for pointing me to the solution. I had looked at Elk's forum previously but must have just overlooked it. I am thinking that the output three may be a better solution as it would most likely conserve the battery in the event of a power failure.
