Remote phone control issue

The Telco provider on the M1 system I am working on has an electronic answering/message service which is I assume done at the phone exchange.

The issue I have is if I set the M1 to say a ring one before the electronic telco message service answers the M1 will pick the call up and no problems remote controlling the M1 but no message can be taken.

If I let the off site electronic telco answer the call you can not "***" and activate the phone remote function.

One solution is purchase an answering machine which defeats the service the telco provides. I can't think of any other solution can anyone think of one?

Unless you can find an answering machine which supports not answering when the call is coming from a certain number (i.e., Google Voice), I don't see a way around that, only 1 system can answer the call.

Any way that you can take advantage of the "unique ring" feature from the telco, if it's offered? It costs me a few dollars a month. With that feature, I have two phone numbers for one phone line. One of the numbers results in a "double ring". My fax machine is set up to only auto-answer a "double ring", and I give out the "double ring" number as my fax number. If a "single ring" call comes in, the fax machine won't answer it. I have no idea if the M1G (or your answering service) can be set up to only answer on certain ring types.

The Elk RP guide has the following solution for that:

Ring/Hang‐up/Answer works as follows: the user to call the location hang up after a ring or two then call back and the panel will pick up the line within a 45 second window. In order for this option to work you need to have Rings Until Auto‐answer programmed to a number other than 0.

Check the manual and it's just a check mark to enable in G26-G28 Globals config.
