Replacing powerflash modules on garage doors - advice?

I have two X10 powerflash modules hooked to garage door contacts. Coincidentally they both just gave up (after years of service). I see that these modules are still available online for about $14 each. So this would be the easiest way to update this. Only downside is that being X10 my HA controller didn't always pick up the signal - although it got it most of the time. So, I was thinking of two options - Zwave contact closure or use a module on my GE Caddx alarm system wireless network. I looked around and saw several options for both - does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

Simon, is there any chance you could share a link to the source of the Powerflash modules. I need one to finish up a project. Appreciate any help you could email me. Thanks.

If you have no problems with range, I would suggest using your GE wireless sensor. Mounting it might be a little creative, but not difficult.

They are available on Amazon, and a number of other places.

Many users that have the W800 use the X10 door and window sensors with good success to monitor the status of garage doors.

Since X10 has been completely changing their business model. Many of their modules are no longer made.
If you can find a PF284 Powerflash. You are lucky. One of the independent X10 dealers has that one in its large list of discontinued items.

I have used a Smarthome 2450 I/OLInc with a X10 address added to it for dry contact detection. Unlike the Powerflash it will not accept a low voltage input. Only dry contacts.

I'd go the wireless GE route - you can get a sensor that accepts external contacts and get a nice track-mounted sensor if you don't already have one you like.
