Round GB Sensor in Single Gang Box

I am looking at buying 1 few glass break sensors (I need 10). I am pre-wired for them and there are single gang boxes covered with blank faceplates. My question is whether or not the round sensors would cover a single gang box or not.

I am specifically looking at this GB sensor: GE ShatterPro III (5812RND)

NOTE: I realize that they also have a rectangular model as well but I kind of prefer the look of the round model.

Looks like it'll fit and the knockouts will match a single gang. It's for a 4" round box, so check your cutout, single gang is 2x4.

This weekend I printed a template with a 4" diameter circle. I took this out to my house (still under construction) and I took off a faceplate to expose the single gang box. It looks like the corners of the box will stick out from under a 4" diameter sensor. BUMMER!

I guess I will order the rectangular sensors.

I used a Sentrol round glass break and it easily mounted in a blank cover plate, PLUS I was able to install a dual-colored LED (Garage Door Indicator) and a voice announcement on/off switch in that same cover. I did custom drill out the mounting holes. One word of caution, make sure you get the nylon cover plates and not the rigid plastic ones (they will crack when you try to drill them ;) ).

I like what you did but I don't think we talking about the same thing. I am talking about using one of these:

5812-RND

My understanding is that I would remove the blank faceplate and mount this sensor directly to the gang box. Although I'm not sure about this since I have the rectangular gang boxes and I want to use round sensors. Well, that and I'm a computer guy not a LV installer. :)

Ah, sorry about that. I tried looking up that sensor to see if it indeed was designed for any type of mounting box, but could not find any. FYI, here are the dimensions in case anyone is interested.

I also tried their installation instructions and nothing was mentioned about gang box mounting. :(

Yeah...I got the manual, too, and it was useless as far as answering my question. Anyway, I just order 7 of these. I'll post next week with the results.
