If I remember correctly - I have to do these in opposite order, and once I install the license, I restart the Sage service (there is an Sage Service application that lets you stop/start the service with 2 mouse clicks in about 3 seconds). (FYI - I run my server in Service Mode - several benefits to that (if you aren't connecting your server to a TV directly but only through extenders)

Well I got mine last night and set it up. I'm new to the whole SageTV game so I need to learn a few things but I had been recording a few shows the last month or so. Setup was easy, had a couple of self inflicted glitches but over all it works great. I now see that I need 2 HD tuners so I can record using one tuner and watch live TV using the other. Plus I still have a lot of learning to do about the Sage software itself but over all I like the unit. I do see some degradation in the output but I'm still not sure if it's a recording quality issue or that's just the loss to expect but I see some "sandiness" in some dark scenes. I simply can not believe they have already sold out though.
Mine is updating the firmware right now, hopefully I can compare it soon with the output of my HTPC. One thing that was rather disappointing is that the power cord was too short (compared with other device such as my cablebox). I also wish that the remote has the numbers buttons location and control buttons location swapped.
Ok, finally got a chance to try some xvid videos I am familiar with (Read: have played them on my HTPC before replacing it with the HD100), and the output is 'ok', definitely not as nice as my HTPC. It looks like the brightness is too high or something like that.

Sounds like you need to go ahead and sell me that extender since you do not have time to use it.

I'd be willing to bet that it's either:
1) Sage limiting their exposure "just in case"
2) Sage doesn't have enough capital for a huge order
3) Sage doesn't have enough physical warehouse capacity for a huge order
I wouldn't be shocked if 500-1000 of these were sold in batch #2. @$200 street direct, it's probably ~$150 cost, that's a crapload of initial outlay for a small company. I dunno many small companies willing to upfront write a check for $75K for equipment that's still near-first generation. Never mind the "where the hell do you store 500-1000 boxes", as they didn't really need much storage capacity up until now as it was primarily software-sales.
