Seeking recommendation for Coax Stripper

Hello,

I am tired of struggling with my current coaxial cable stripper. I never seem to get the cuts right despite adjusting it. Often they are too deep on the outer jacket or not deep enough on the inner dielectric. Thus, I am looking for a new stripper.

Does anyone have a favorite, idiot proof, coaxial cable stripper? I am using primarily RG6QS cable.

Thanks.

Ideal Coaxial Stripmaster, RG-6 QuadShield, Model # 45-282.

I've used these for the past couple of years, haven't found anything better so far.

I was thinking of a 1 step stripper and hadn't considered a 2 step. I already have that Ideal brand stripping frame for regular romex, so I could just buy the RG6QS blades. How difficult is it to get the proper spacing / length since you are stripping the outer jacket separately from the inner?

I have the Ideal 45-526, I believe. It doesn't have the model number on it but the picture looks like it. I bought it at Lowes for around $16. It does the job and strips RG6QS, RG6, RG59. You just set the cartridge to one of the three preset heights (RG6 for RG6QS cable. RG59 for RG6 cable, RG58 for RG59 cable) and spin it three times clockwise, three times counterclockwise and pull off.

This RG6 tool works with compression fittings. It strips and compresses. You put the cable in and line it up to the edge of the tool then spin 3 times and pull your cable out.

There are no user settings to adjust so its perfect every time as long as you line up the end of the cable with the edge of the tool. This is very easy to do. It works with all RG6 dual and quad and every RG59 i have come across. It does not work with 23 & 25 guage mini cable.

There is a tension spring in it that pushes the blades into the cable. You do not have to squeeze or pinch anything while spinning it like you would with some of the other types i have seen.

I have used this for more than a decade and only changed the blade once. It works with augat connectors, liberty connectors and the ideal connectors you can get from home depot.
