Single tone siren/buzzer for driveway alarm?

Hi,

I purchased a house that came with a driveway alarm. The siren is about 30 years old & sounds like its not working so well. The unit is a Mallory Sonalert Model SC628:

It is still being sold & it says its about 80DB. The unit is sitting in the wall & I figured I could just get another unit, so I grabbed a "bloodhound" at my local alarm store. http://www.homesecuritystore.com/p-1552-bloodhound-atw-security-indooroutdoor-piezo-siren.aspx

I plugged it in & it is was too loud, and the dual tone is really annoying.

There is also a driveway alarm in the pool house which the siren is dead. The Bloodhound is way to loud & while my neighboors are not close, it is obnoxiously loud.

So is there a solution that someone could recommend in terms of small buzzer/siren's that have a single non annoying tone? I dont want to wake the kids at night, I get a lot of deliveries (home business) & I dont wnat that terrible noise from the bloodhound.

Any suggestions would be great for something that is nicer than the Mallory in the same DB range, would be great!

Thanks,
Rich

What you're really searching for is a Piezo Buzzer - they come in a huge variety of loudnesses and patterns.

This one from Radio Shack looks like basically the same thing you already have installed:

Why not just get a replacement sonalert, your link has it for a fair price....

You could also use a System Sensor MHW, set for non-temporal.

Almost sounds like you have a Cartell, so you might want to look into a replacement OEM plate.
