ya i can pick up another the next time i hit fry's. it will cost extra to upgrade to version 4.x, otherwise the license will work w/ 3.7.3 - the latest pre 4.x release that's downloadable.

Is there a way to check messages from the landline telephones in your house using the software? i've been looking at a various packages, they all seem to require using the computer.

Yes, with Call Soft Pro you can call in to check messages. You can't just pick up the phone and check them though, I don't think.
