Sp12f wiring

Easy one... which wire is positive and which wire is negative on a Sp12f speaker? Does it matter as long as you wire them consistently? For reference, they have a black and white wire.
Thanks

It doesn't really matter which wire you use for positive and negative.  My own convention is to connect the black wire to "-".   With multiple speakers, if you are consistent in the way you wire them, it will keep them all in phase.  But the phase relationship doesn't matter much if the speakers are far apart.   With out of phase speakers, the sound waves from one will cancel out the sound waves from another speaker.  If they are not in the same or adjacent rooms, it's unlikely you'll ever notice.

I learned a long time ago that you can hear if a set of left/right stereo speakers are wired correctly.

1 Place the speakers a few feet apart and facing each other.
2 Then play a song that has a lots of bass and treble. Use a good CD or LP source so that you have good dynamic range.

With the speakers in this position you will be able to hear a much improved bass and treble when the wires are polarized correctly and less highs and lows when they are not. Just reverse the polarity on one of the speakers and you should hear the difference.

Mike.
