Suggest a cheap whole house audio amp w/ separate zones and input from rooms

One of the requirements of my future distributed audio system is that metadata will be displayed (artist, track, etc.).

Not too many of those around.

Maybe I should re-consider that requirement...it adds a sh!t-load of money to the total cost. :)

You could always use iTunes on your HTPC. Pipe this into a HiFi (HAI system) and then control it all wirelessly via iPod Touch/Iphone with Apple remote. Its is very slick and other than hardware its all free. You can even use the Touch to control which zones play the music... and you get albumn covers, meta data, and all the other iTunes slickness.

I used to be very anti iTunes till I discovered this functionality.

If you get a NuVo (perhaps Russound) with keypads, it's pretty damn easy to get CQC to show the artist & track on the keypads. I do that...

Russound vs. Nuvo...

vs. Niles vs. Speakercraft

None of them are perfect, I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and pick one.

If I didn't feel such a strong need for that metadata, any cheap switching amp would work fine.

Happy holidays, everyone. Hope it was a safe and healthy holiday for everyone.

Yeah... i can see my self starting to run in circles. Personally i feel it's more important to be able to plug in an external source than it is to have meta data... once the song is selected i already know who sings it.
