I am still looking for a reasonably priced system that will meet my needs. I need three cameras; Front door/porch, driveway, and rear lower level door area. I want to be able to record and to view on my home network and TVs. Recommendations welcome.
I know I always recommend low end, but I hate to pay more just becuase... www.Geeks.com has some cheap gear. I bought a RapidOS 4 channel card from them for about $40 and two of their $55 66' IR night vision cameras.
I am happy with the card and the cameras. I think my Swann Maxi's (same camera design as Geeks' $55 job) Are a little better night quality, but not as bright as the Geeks.com camera. I have seen the Geeks camera as low as $53, where the Swann version is $139. So I think it is a GREAT deal.
So for under $200 you could have 3 night vision cameras and a 4-channel card and provide great coverage at day or night, in any weather...
The link is showing $59 today, but it changes everyday. Hold out for $55 or less if that actually matters to ya.
If you want even cheap, some of there other cams are not bad at all like this one for $37 http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=CM802CHA&cat=VID
which is still a IR weather proof night vision CCD camera... Although the lighting in it is probably only good for 30' of so, the quality size, price, etc make it a decent camera for the price!
