Thermostat compatibility question

I'm just beginning a new home building project.  I am considering the OmniPro II (or mabe a step down) for home automation.  I will have two air-air heat pumps.  Does this controller work with any other thermostats besides the OmniStat?   My HVAC supplier normally uses Honewell Prestige series.  Just wondering if this is just a matter of the Honeywell speaking the same protocol.

Pretty much just the OmniStat series or one or two specialty ones, such as the Carrier Infinity IIRC.
 
If you're using a zoned system, your installer can use the honeywell zone controller with the omnistats as long as it accepts standard thermostats.

Thanks.  That's kind of what I figured.  I am not using a zoned system, rather a 2-stage air-air heat pump for main level and 1-stage air-air heat pump for second level.  From a first glance at the Omnistat specs, I think it will work but need to check with the HVAC contractor.  Just don't know how cooperative they will be setting up with a Thermostat they don't supply and don't use regularly.
