Touchscreen apps??????

I have and use Mainlobby, without a touch screen for awhile now.
I finally got a touch screen, so I let it run for 48 hours straight. Not good on my system. B)
(IntelPII, XPHomeSP2, 256KRAM-HSplugins-BLWeather, Message Server, Media Player, DooCPU Monitor, LEDAM, W800RF, MLHSplugin(Disabled))
So now I am shopping around and need comments from people that use, HAControl, Maestro, HSTouch, and Jon00's touchscreen app.
I also got a new computer for holding my media files and for running Celestia (a space sim). I can also hook up this new system to my 52" LCD.
Now the older pc is just for HS.
ML and HS combined dogged it down to a snail's pace, so I need something lighter, faster.
Comments.....

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim;

Good to see you posting here again! B)

With your touch screen, will it be connected to the automation server itself? I.E. the touchscreen application will reside on the same PC as the home automation server?

A P2 CPU?

Buy a more modern PC. You "need" one anyway. I am pretty sure you have put LOTS of time into your user interface. You would have to recreate it all with any other choice you mention. And, it won't look or act as good when you are done.

You also should consider putting MainLobby client on it's own PC. Runs fine on an Atom CPU if you want something lighter.

Yes it will.
And thanks, good to be up and running again, got a nasty bug awhile back. Had to reinstall everything.

Thought about a new pc but just not doable for awhile B)

I just hope none of you guys ever go through the bug I got.
Spent 2 weeks with the guys on Norton forums, then the Bleepingcomputer.com's forums.
Lost all data, the OS, and all means of booting up.

I remember trying Netremote in it's early days. It was cool, but I also remember alot of writing scripts.
One of the guys helped me alot, can't remember his name now.

Thanks,
Tim

What are you going to be using for the home automation side of things? If its Homeseer then I would look into HSTouch. It looks decent from what I have seen.

I personally use Netremote and Girder 5 (for my home automation). You can check my showcase out to see my latest projects.

But after re-reading your first post I would think you would be better off just increasing your PC's horsepower.

Check craigslist for a cheap 3 year old PC, $100.

Lots of people these days dumping old computers for (little) cash.

The problem with an old PC is that it could be a lemon and it will also use more power than it should.
I like to build mini-ITX based H/A computers, low power draw is a big plus for a always on PC. The
industrial grade PC boards are usually rock solid for reliability.
