Trouble Shooting a Master Hub

It seems my 1wire network just goes dead. I'm not sure where to look for a solution. I changed the port it's using on the edgeport/8 with the RFID receiver. The RFID receiver continued to report during the day on the serial port the 1wire was on and the the 1wire went dead. I would say it's not the port. That leaves me with either the Master Hub having problems or it's in software somewhere. A reboot gets everything up and running again but it gets tiresome rebooting every few days when I notice the temp sensors not updating. I have to think that It wouldn't be hardware if a reboot fixes it but I'm not sure about that either. This has run flawlessly for the last couple of months with no issues at all. It's only in the last few weeks I'm noticing this. The first time I just rebooted and didn't give it much thought. After that I started playing a little with changing ports around, to no avail I'm afraid.

I wonder if just pulling power and reapplying it to the Master Hub would do anything. I didn't try that but I will next time.

I also wonder if it's possible for the HomeSeer Plugin to bring down the network. I guess I could run a couple of days with out HS running and see, but wow, that's like a last resort having all that manual turning on and off to do. ;)

Is there anyway to test the Master Hub independent of software to make sure it's not a hardware problem?

There is not really a way to test the Master Hub without running some software on the PC. But you could run the OneWireViewer to rule out HS as the problem (but I don't think HS is the problem).

I notice that you say you have it connected to an edgeport/8. I have an edgeport/8 setup on my main server and every now and then it seems to go "stupid" where the software can't seem to open the com port. If I unplug the USB cable from the edgeport for a couple of seconds and then replug it everything works fine for a while. My issue is not directly 1-Wire related because what I usually see is problems communicating with my Ocelot. If you have a real com port on your machine you may want to connect the Master Hub there and see if that helps or at least unplug/replug the USB cable to see if that clears it up.

I'll try just unplugging the edgeport next time it happens. I know this is going to take a while to fix since most of the time it just hums along doing great. I'll let you know what happens, thanks Eric.
