Uplink Anynet reporting: delays? drops?

I have been happy with my Uplink Anynet cell reporting as a backup for my M1, but recent conversations have me wondering about things. AFAIK, the Anynet uses SMS messaging, which has two drawbacks...
1) SMS not guaranteed to be instant delivery (a 10 minute late fire or medical alarm report is scary)
2) SMS not guaranteed message delivery (a totally missed report is scary)

Are these statements true?

Are those of you using Uplink Anynet as your primary reporting seeing any of these issues?

I've experienced none of these problems. Reporting seems almost instantaneous with my Uplink and M1 via NextAlarm.

Which model Uplink Anynet cell unit do you use. This site list many models:

I also have a ELK M1 seup with a ELK-M1XSP an have read posting about this setup with the ELK reporting via serial from ELK-M1XSP to the Uplink unit with monitoring with nextalarm.com

Thanks

I am using an Uplink Digicell Anynet reporting to NextAlarm. But I don't know enough about cell networks or SMS to know it is truly fast and reliable 100% of the time. I haven't seen any issue so far, but I am afraid of Mr Murphy.

I've had a few serious problems with my anynet. I don't think it has anything to do with the device, and everything to do with your local cell network, numerex(the company that processes all of the data) and your monitoring company. I had a missed fire alarm(false alarm), and the weekly test reports frequently arrive at the central station a few hours late. A few of the problems were related to shaky GSM coverage(I bought a bigger antenna), in the rest the data was lost in the cloud(I was on the phone with uplink monitoring signal strength before the test). If you don't life in an area with good redundant GSM coverage, be wary. I also have issues with SMS messages from my phone arriving late too, think it is the tower/network that is mainly to blame.
