V572A Picking Up "RF Storm" Suddenly

I've been using the all housecode V572A product in an x-10 system for 5 years without incident and now, suddenly, it's picking up AON A16, HON H16 in repeating fashion non stop.

It's clogged the system so that nothing works.

I've tried to ID RF issues by unplugging any RF stuff but it doesn't seem to help. I suppose it could be coming for somewhere outside my NYC apartment ...who knows....

Any insights?

I think I remember someone posting something about receiver hardware going bad that started showing a all on as a symptom

I know it's an RF signal problem becuase as soon as I unplug the V572A the problem stops. I can still use AHP when the V572A is unplugged.

I swapped out the old V572A for a new one so I pretty sure it's not the V572A.

I've isolated the source of the RF to a couple of rooms in my appartment (by walking around with the V572A plugged into and extention cord and the antenna unplugged (was told this provides a 10 foot radius of RF reception)) but I can't locate the source(s).

I like on the top floor of an 8 story brownstone in Manhattan. I've checked outisde the apartment and thesource is not out there...

Such a mystery and making me miserable.

Does the CM15A AHP Interface monitor also show the RF signals? It also can receive all 256 X10 addresses. Though its RF range is not very good.

I would suspect noise. If you have access to the circuit panel, try shutting off different circuits to see if it stops. It's quite often caused by the addition of some device that is putting out noise. Have you plugged in anything new? I have found that even an extension cord has caused problems.....

Do you have any battery operated motion sensors?

I do and I took the batteries out and the problem persisted.

Also, I used the AHP interface to determine the codes and the problem. At first I had NO IDEA what was going on (couldn't turn off kitchen light (A16)..every time I tried it came back on immediately).

I will be trying to shut down the breakers/unplug everything but that takes family cooperation and that will have to wait until next weekend (I'm out of town next week)...stay tuned but please keep posting any ideas!

While ANYTHING is possible...the lady below me doesn't even own a computer and other around me are pretty far away with major walls in between plus when I check for signal in areas where they are nothing shows (I used the V572A WITHOUT antenna attatched, plugged into an extention cord and walked around the app. I'm pretty sure it's in my apt...

Can you post a log showing this traffic, with timestamps included. I'd like to see if there is a pattern in timing. Is there any chance you have an (old/boxed) RF remote laying around somewhere? Maybe something is resting on the button.

Maybe your place is bugged. :)

Could be! ....don't think so tho...

I can't post the logs right now becuase I'm away. With the V572A antenna plugged in the log shoes a NEVER ENDING, NO BREAK stream of A16 Aon H16 Hon signal and NOTHING else can break through...

Strangely, I noticed that WITHOUT the V572A plugged in at all I STILL get a periodic H16 Hon showing up which would seems to suggest that I have BOTH an RF AND a powerline problem...

If this is showing as RF reception, if could be the CM15a itself logging the transmission.

The CM15a has a "questionable" RF range. You could try plugging it into a extension cord/laptop and walking it around to locate the signal.

It may not be an "RF device" Id got to the area you narrowed it down to and unplug ALL electronics in that room. Heck unplug all electronics in your apartment, leaving only the computer PLC, and receiver plugged in if it comes to that
