Ways to make Elk M1 outdoor temperature aware

Hi Everyone-
 
I'm looking for a way to make my Elk M1 aware of the outside temperature.  Is there a good way to do this without adding another M1ZTS?  I'm trying to automate some scenes in the house, and want to have the Elk make a decision on whether or not the fireplace is a part of the scene based on the outdoor temperature and time of year.
 
if the only option is the M1ZTS, what portion have people mounted outside (The entire unit, or just the probe keeping the unit inside)?

You would use a ZTSR to monitor outside temperature. Only the probe would be outside in a protected area.
