I'm looking for a solution where I can use an old PC (dell 3000, no AGP 2.4Ghz~) as a capture device and a Mac as the receiver. This will be a 4 camera system. I only need access to live viewing on the remote side, though access to archives would be nice. Bandwidth is limited to a cable modem account (~320k up), so AVC/h.264 would be great.

Whats the best software encoding solution (linux or win) that work with a mac browser (java or quicktime based viewing -- Safari or Firfox on OSX)?
I've done some searches in this and other forums, but I cant find any difinitive answer.
