I'm using SAV 10 now and i'm not happy with 2 things.

1- Doesn't ever stop any virii
2- Client is a pig

What are you guys using, and what do you think of the performance?

Sunbelt Software Vipre Enterprise.

We used SAV, and switched to Trend Micro for a few years. We started with Vipre about 9 months ago, and are VERY happy. It's easy to administer, the client is VERY lightweight, and have not had any issues with Viurses.

I would highly recommend it!

They also have a home version, and sell an unlimited home licenses for $50. So one license covers as many PCs that you install it on in your home.

No, I don't work there...I just love the product.

Used SAV for years and last year switched to Trend Micro. We have ~7,000 users and all are local admins so it's tough to stop much. SAV has a fatty client as you said and trend is much better in that regard. I don't see trend as being much better in regards to viruses and it sucks at malware. Trend support is much better and they are quicker to release pattern file updates when we have issues. However, it's not all roses, sometimes the clients don't update for any good reason and the trend console craps out occasionally. There is no right answer... stick with any top provider and i'm sure you'll be fine.

sacedog -I might have to ping you with few questions on VIPRE as I am testing it now. I have used Norton/Symantec, Trend, NAI/McAfee enterprise products throughout the years and every one of them sucks in their own way. They are one of the following; resource hog, nightmare to manage, pain to upgrade, periodically put out bad definition files, or simply don't catch enough.

Currently on Trend and it does a poor job with Malware IMHO. Really looking to find a better solution.

For the OP- I use Avast at home and have had great luck with it. Yes I know its not Enterprise but with my experience of the big AV software I honestly cannot recommend one at this time.

I manage AV for thousands of endpoints across multiple customers. The two platforms I administer are McAfee (through ePO) and Symantec (through Symantec System Center). In a large environment, I think the management capabilities of the product are key. That, and being able to respond effectively to an outbreak. In these regards, McAfee is far, far superior. And don't even get me started on Symantec's outsourced support...
