Will this Levition turns on automatically based on motion?

Will it turn on the light automatically based on motion detection? I have a light in the stairway down to the basement, it's not on a 3-way switch so when I go down, the light stays on. Was thinking one of these. If it turns on/off automatically, that might work.

However, does it also detect darkness automatically? I don't want it to turn on automatically when it's bright out.

Went to a local store - Rona tonight. Didn't have the Leviton but a Cooper brand, seems to do the same thing and cheaper. Bought one and I'll give it a try this weekend.
