Wireless Controller?

Hello all, I have an app. where we want to use PB,s (pushbuttons) to control a pool cover. We will need an "Open" button, and a "Close" button. My original thought was to use Rf zones with xmitter and rcvr. When the zone is faulted (by pushing the PB the Open/Close function would begin. If you release the button, hence clearing the zone. The function would stop. The problem is space required for 2-xmitters. There is no way to get wires where they want the PB's. There is a wood column that we would have to mount the PB's on but I don't think 2-xmitters will fit in space behind a 1-gang plate. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is there a safety issue involved with this? What if the thing is closing and a kid falls in? Do you need to be able to hit open again very quickly?

You need to remember that duplicate status updates received through wireless are ignored for 8 seconds. If you hit close, then open, it should work fine. But if for some reason open was pressed, then close, then open again, you might not be able to stop it for a few seconds.

If you choose to go ahead with it, take a peek at the MicraG sensors, you could probably jam 30 of them in a single gang box if you needed to. They work fine with the M1G, I have a bunch of them. You could open the unit and just solder on a couple of leads from the reed switch to a pushbutton switch. They are like $27 each, so if it doesn't work, it's not like you broke the bank buying them to test with. Just make sure you don't bunch up the antenna. Drill a hole in the bottom of the box if you need to and let the antenna dangle inside the wall.

Thanks Sig15, I may not be able to use them for this app as I don't know if I want to butcher them to get to the contacts. But I am going to look into them for some other aps. Do you use the Elk rcvr or the Ge/Caddx rcvr?
