I just had an Omni IIe installed with a few UPB/HLC lights, and I'm now planning to add a whole bunch of light controls for automation. My main goal is to turn lights off automatically after a period of time if no occupancy is detected. In doing some research, it would appear that occupancy sensors would be better suited to this task than motion sensors due to the slight delay and decreased sensitivity of the latter. However, in my application, I would be retrofitting and I don't think it would be possible to get power to the locations I want to place the sensors in.
So my question is: are there any wireless occupancy sensors that could communicate with the Omni such that I could set triggers for off/on based on occupancy/vacancy but still control the lights via a central controller (e.g. my iPhone)? Leviton makes a wireless motion sensor, but I don't think that will be sensitive enough to occupancy where there is little movement. I've played around with the security motion detectors that I already have installed, and they don't work particularly well if someone just sitting at a table not moving. I had programmed the Omni like this:
1. When Dining Motion Sensor is NOT READY,
Then Dining Room Timer on for 15 min
2. Every 1 minute
If Dining Motion Sensor is SECURE
and If Dining Room Timer is off
Then turn Dining Room Light off.
