LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Zilog, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZILG), a global provider of innovative embedded control solutions, and tvCompass Inc., a software and services provider for mobile internet devices, introduced today at CES a mobile software solution that enables remote control capability on the Apple iPhone and other popular mobile smart phones.

The joint technology solution features tvCompass's patented network connected Interactive Program Guide and wireless service. The solution also includes Zilog's Crimzon Connects technology that provides customized control of home audio/video products via the company's industry-leading infrared (IR) database and a variety of other home devices such as lights and thermostats that use INSTEON or Z-Wave technology.

"The multi-tasking smart phone consumer will appreciate the utility and convenience of using their mobile devices to browse, navigate and search TV listing content, and tune their TV, set-top box or DVR directly from their program guide conveniently presented on the second screen," said Edward Zylka, CEO, tvCompass Inc. "While the digital home has intelligence everywhere, this is one of the first solutions in the industry to demonstrate interoperability between TV devices, wireless networks, content and services and mobile devices."

"Zilog's Crimzon Connects technology delivers personalized home control capabilities in the palm of your hand for Apple iPhone mobile phone users and other smart phone users," said Michelle Leyden Li, general manager of Zilog's Home Control Business Unit. The mobile client applications will interoperate with the tvCompass click365(SM) wireless content and hosted services network which currently serves a population of WiFi mobile internet devices offered in the home theater and remote accessory market under the ESPN and Audiovox brands.

Crimzon Connects technology from Zilog provides the hardware and software building blocks for embedded system designers and consumer electronics manufacturers to develop solutions that enable total home control via any web-enabled device. This includes an iPhone, iPod touch, PC or PDA using the home's existing wireless network.
