ZWave toggle switches

I decided to slowly take the plunge into ZWave. In looking at the switches that are available nobody seems to make the old toggle style switches that are zwave enabled, just the paddle switches.

Looks like someone used to make them:

But stopped.

My house is a farm house type and I would prefer to have the toggle switches so the HA is hidden.

Does any one still make them or am I just out of luck?

Thanks for helping!

I've only seen the paddles.

Additional questions to consider:

1) Do you need beaming?

2) Do you need Instant Status?

From what I see beaming is for door locks. The answer to that is maybe sometime. The instant status would be very useful.

The Aeotec switches look interesting. I may get one of them to try out. The only thing I might not like is no local dimming that I could see. I'll have to try them out.

Thanks for that!

I cannot determine how you are going to be able to dim the lights using the existing wall switch.

Nor will you be able to determine the status of the light, if for some reason the light is not in view.

My advice is to accept the look of the paddles and stick with "normal" Z-Wave devices.

I looked at the Aeotec inwall switches and I don't think they will work for me. Apparently if you have 3 way switches they need special wiring which I doubt I have. Guess I'm stuck with the paddles.

You should be able to reuse the existing 3-way wiring.  I've used a number of these and there are quite a few options on how they can be hooked up.

Thanks for the link!  :D

Looks very interesting. I'm not in any hurry to start replacing switches so I think I'll wait a while and see what happens with that. Besides, I'm still having all the newbie with zwave problems right now.
