Automated Gate Opener

Going to replace my driveway gate & fence. The gate itself is ~8ft wide, the fence sits ~10 feet off the side of the house.
 
Right now we have ye olden wooden POS. Likely replacing also with a wooden gate. I'd love to put in something that I can link to the Elk instead of just a remote. That way I can use other mechanisms to open, ie see if there's some RFID/weigand or weatherproof keypad that I can use.
 
Anyone have any luck with this? 
 
I just took this pic, crappy but you get the point. That whole thing is getting torn down and replaced in the next 3-4 months. (mine is the house on the left)
 

I should add: I'm looking at stuff like this, trying to figure out how to integrate with the Elk. Not sure I can.

Hmmm. Page 30 of the Mighty Mule insinuates I might be able to use Elk Relays to control this by opening/closing their inputs. Will call Mighty Mule later this week to see if that's true.

I had a Mighty Mule opener at a previous house. It required a simple contact closure to operate. So yes, an Elk output through a relay should work for you.
