Read that thread closely...that's not what they're trying to do.
They're not trying to get another manufacturer's camera to work on the NVR or vice versa....they're trying to get the same hardware with a different firmware other than the OEM's to work on the NVR. Very different than getting an NVR to accept another manufacturer's camera and protocols...trust me, I've had to do this with pro grade hardware and OEM vs. commercially available units that cost more than the entire system.
It's no different than trying to get a Mercury door to fit on a Ford...the trim is slightly different but the functional hardware is the same.
