    Elk cannot access internet

Inside my LAN, testing from the PC based RP2 software. I was able to get it working by setting the M1EXP DNS servers manually to the Comcast DNS servers. Now I can update the M1 clock and send e-mails.   My router has the latest firmware.   I once had a problem with another web appliance...

    Elk cannot access internet

So I set the DNS servers manually on the M1XEP and it seems to work now. AFIK the DNS addresses rarely change so it should be OK.   It seems the M1XEP is not completely compatible with my router?   It's a Netgear N750 which is a big seller on Amazon.

    Elk cannot access internet

Hi,   Did everything by the book but no luck. I have a newer Netgear router, Comcast ISP.   Static IP on M1XEP, port 2601 forwarded on router. Selected Obtain DNS auto on M1XEP. FW 2.0.34. I have rebooted M1XEP.     Can't update clock or FW and test dns fails.   For dynamic DNS, my understanding...

    Elk wiring tips

Hi,   For wiring to the various external devices I'm using solid CAT5 cable. Not sure this is the best choice as wires can break at the terminal screw. Is it better to use stranded, at least for short runs to the wireless receiver, LCD etc? If using stranded should the stripped ends be tinned...

Honeywell wireless motion detectors compatible with M1?

On the wireless Honeywell motion detectors (5800PIR) the options seem to be programmed wirelessly (no dip switches). Does this mean newer Honeywell products have 2 way communications and thus I won't be able to set these options using the M1 compatible Honeywell wireless sensor receiver?   The...

    Recessed wireless door sensors

Hi,   I have purchased a M1 and I'm deciding on the wireless controller, leaning towards Honeywell since they seem to have so many sensors.   However, I'm reluctant to use the recessed door sensors (e.x 5818MNL) as they require a 0.75" x 3.0" depth hole be drilled into the jamb. Typically this...

    ELK LCD controller selection

OK, you have convinced me especially given the ELK NAV price reduction I just noticed.   Thanks

    ELK LCD controller selection

Yes, main source next to front door entry but as I said there would be a simple backup keypad in the closet, same location.   I could go with the ELK navigator, it has come down in price quite a bit. It's just that I read there is no good reason to go with it save for a direct, secure connection...

    ELK LCD controller selection

Hi all,   Decided on a ELK security system that I will be installing myself. I almost bought the ELK LCD but after reading up on the pros/cons for my situation I think a 3'rd party windows or android device will be better at my front door entry. My ELK controller will be in a closet right next...
