Home made rain gauge - finished!

Well, earlier this year I said I'd do it: http://www.cocoontech.com/index.php?showtopic=4387 So here's a few pictures of the rain gauge in testing: This one shows the whole thing with 1-wire counter board under a small glass dome sealed onto a perspex base. The base has adjustable feet to...

    1-wire counter

Alright then, it shouldn't be too hard to do that. I don't think there's enough space inside the enclosure now, but I'm sure I can find a box I can seal and attach to the side. Thanks -Chris

    1-wire counter

Everything seems fine, until I connect up the switch with some extra telephone wire then the counter goes mad again - counting 3000-4000 per minute. I planned on mounting the counter board in the same place as the temp/humidity sensor, then running another wire (about 4-5m long) to the switch...

    1-wire counter

Just connected it up straight to the switch, worked perfectly! As I said before, just need to complete the assembly. Shame I don't have it outside yet, we're having a drought at the moment in the south of England, but this week it's actually raining! -Chris

    1-wire counter

OK thanks Eric. I've not actually tried the switch with it yet so maybe I should have done that before posting here :P I do plan on writing a full guide once it's complete. I wasn't really sure whether it'd work or not. I have a large, but good quality switch, so balancing the buckets was...

    1-wire counter

I received my counter board from hobby boards yesterday (thanks Eric). It appears the device is very sensitive so it's hard to get it count individual switch closures. Even touching a wire from input A to +5V produces several counts, when I only want one. Is there a way to prevent this...

    Humidity/Temp not giving any readings

UPDATE 2: Completely randomly the humidity has begun to read correctly again. Seriously, between 1 reading and the next the humidity suddeny jumped from zero to 40-50% which seems correct for indoors values. But the temperature sensor on the board still does read. This seems crazy to me, I...

    Humidity/Temp not giving any readings

Well here's an update: It seems there was a problem with about 3 different wires I used, until finally, randomly, it started working - sort of... For about 24 hours it reported humidity (looked correct) but no temperature. At 12:30 today, when nobody was about to mess with it, and the...

    Humidity/Temp not giving any readings

No storms at all around here recently, in fact we hardly ever get storms here - that's why I never bought a lightning detector! Nothing special here at all except it being very cold. I find it strange how everything else is fine if it was an external influence. How could it be shorting...

    Humidity/Temp not giving any readings

It's worked fine up to that point, that's why I don't understand why it just stopped. My graphs just have it dropping off now.

    Humidity/Temp not giving any readings

Hi, Recently I purchased a number of parts from hobby boards and I have been very pleased so far, except for a problem I'm now having with the temp/humidity board I bought. Last night the software I'm using (oww) crashed randomly with no specific error message. I restarted it and found no...
