    OP2 network troubleshooting and repair

Nope. I just configured the microrouter and inserted it in-line with the existing ethernet connection. It's still working fine now. I haven't tried re-installing the Omnitouch, but I may do that this weekend now that everything has been stable for a few weeks. This is a total guess, but the...

    OP2 network troubleshooting and repair

FWIW, the microrouter solution is working for me. I've had it going that way for a few weeks and so far it's been reliable. I don't like the idea of extra pieces of gear for no "good" reason, but it's better than the cost and effort of replacing the whole system.

    OP2 network troubleshooting and repair

It doesn't have any settings, so I assume it would work however the connected devices auto-negotiate.

    OP2 network troubleshooting and repair

That's a good idea, but I actually had an old 10/100 switch lying around already. I tried it, but it didn't help.

Connection to a home automation system

@pete_c Thanks for the info. It sounds like I'm at somewhat of a dead end. If a damaged NIC will cause serial comms issues, that could be a problem. I think I'll give your microrouter solution a shot. If that doesn't work, it's time to replace. I don't think I want to spend the time and...

Connection to a home automation system

Just to make sure I understand... when you refer to your "current mobile setup", that includes your OP2 on the network, correct? That makes sense. Or are you connected RS232? That's what I'm trying to do but so far have been unable. Homeseer is an interesting angle I hadn't thought of. Not...

Connection to a home automation system

Thanks for the input. PCA+VPN would technically get the job done, but isn't the way I would typically use the system. It really needs mobile access so you can adjust the temperature on the train or flight home, or disarm the system when the cleaning lady says she's arriving, etc. Having to...

Connection to a home automation system

I haven't come up with any good solution to replace or repair my OP2 in the near term. Since the only failing capability is the network port, my main issue is that Snaplink doesn't work anymore so I can't control my thermostats or view/control the system remotely. Presumably I could connect...

    OP2 network troubleshooting and repair

That's a great point. I doubt I'll go down that route anyway. Unless I can find a replacement that's very inexpensive, I think it would be better to invest in an entirely new system that's current and still supported.

    OP2 network troubleshooting and repair

I wanted to see if anyone is successfully repairing the network ports on OP2 boards. I posted a few weeks ago about replacing my system, but it seems that the cost and effort involved isn't worth it if I want to try and keep the other components in my system... lighting, audio, stats, etc. Too...

    OP2 troubleshooting and possible replacement

I'm sure this is an FAQ, but I have a failing OP2 (I think) and could use some advice from experienced users. From a troubleshooting perspective... everything was working fine for many years. Then I was away for a few weeks and when I returned my OmniTouch panel was behaving strangely. I...

    Dimmer that won't switch off

Thanks for all the advice. I have one of Jeff's analyzers on its way to me now, so hopefully that will help solve or at least quantify the situation. If I determine that it's just noise or low signal level, I'll give one of his boosters a try. The difference in signal level is large and...

    Dimmer that won't switch off

The log in a single incandescent light. It's hardwired to a fixture in the ceiling, so there's not much I can do to change it or add filtering without digging into the ceiling. I can't imagine that's the problem though. Good call on the furnace. Yes - I did have one installed, but it was 2...

    Dimmer that won't switch off

I have a HA system that has worked well for 5+ years, but suddenly developed a strange problem. The general architecture of the system is a CM11A that sends commands throughout the house, with a Leviton coupler/repeater at the panel. The problem I have is that one of my Leviton 6381 dimmers...
