    Elk Telephone Question

Yes, thanks. Global (Miscellaneous) is set for 2 = Local and remote telephone control enabled. I believe I have the Rj13 box wired right, because the control is calling my external phone, even when an internal phone is off the hook. I ran a standard phone cord from a standard Rj11 jack...

    Elk Telephone Question

I have enabled the internal and external telephone, as well as the telephone reporting, and can't get them to work. On the internal side, I dial *** at the dial tone, but then I get a message: "Sorry, your call cannot be completed." On the reporting side, the system call my cell when I trip...

    ElkRP Software Question

Thanks. I have an old laptop with Windows that connects to the home network. I guess I can download to it, but does ElkRP need XP to run? If all else fails, I can still program through the Key Pad, correct? Also, I have the ISY/Insteon stuff with the Elk internet interface. Will those...

    ElkRP Software Question

Under the heading "Basic Network Setup," the ELK M1XEP installation manual says "start the ELKRP software and open the desired account." (Manual at 4.) How does one do this? I have a Mac and the local network is an Airport Extreme. I also have an elderly PC that can access the local network.

    Elk Wireless Question

I have a follow-up question, if you don't mind. Is a zone equal to 1 sensor? That is, I believe that the wireless receiver is at address 2 (Keypad is address 1) and, as I understand it, the wireless receiver can handle up to 144 sensors. I will be needing 20 or so sensors. Am I correct that...

    Elk Wireless Question

I am installing an Elk M1 Gold system and going all wireless. The manual seems to assume that the first 16 hardwired zones will be used, but I won't be doing that. Do I need to do anything with the first 16 zones? Thanks.

    Elk Wiring Questions - Newbie

Sorry about the multiple postings -- didn't realize I was sending it more than once until it was too late. Thanks for the response -- I have the M1XRF2G, so it would be the key pad bus connection.

    Elk Wiring Questions - Newbie

Thanks for the push. I see it now. One question on the wireless connection. The wireless manual says it connects to the key pad data bus. However, the control manual shows an auxilliary data bus for wireless labeled J3. Should I be using the key pad, J3, or can it go either way? Thanks.

    Elk Wiring Questions - Newbie

I am installing an Elk M 1 Gold system and need some help on the basic wiring -- emphasis on basic. Pardon the rudimentary nature of these questions, as I am new at this sort of thing.[color="#0000FF"][/colo 1. I am using the M1XRF2G wireless receiver. I see that I need to run Cat 5 or 6...
