Elk Telephone Question

I have enabled the internal and external telephone, as well as the telephone reporting, and can't get them to work.

On the internal side, I dial *** at the dial tone, but then I get a message: "Sorry, your call cannot be completed."

On the reporting side, the system call my cell when I trip the alarm, but then is silent and won't accept ***.

I know I am missing something basic (at least I hope I am missing something basic) and would appreciate any helt.

Thanks. I have an Elk M1G system, with a MAC, and Verizon Fios.

Are your globals set to accept remote telephone?
Also, is the line seizure device (cant remember the name) hooked up properly?

Yes, thanks. Global (Miscellaneous) is set for 2 = Local and remote telephone control enabled.

I believe I have the Rj13 box wired right, because the control is calling my external phone, even when an internal phone is off the hook. I ran a standard phone cord from a standard Rj11 jack (plugged in at the Rj 11) to the Rj 13 that comes with Elk -- red to red green to green black to black and yellow to yellow. Then to the control.

Are you using VOIP in your house?

You should have it wired from the RJ13 box to the ELK
R1 > Grey
T1 > Brown
Ring > Red
Tip > Green

From the RJ 13 box to the house phones
R1 > Black
T1 > Yellow

From the provider to RJ 13
T > Green
R > Red

Hope this helps.
