Low Voltage underground conduit separation from 120V

I won't be running the 120V wiring, just the low voltage wiring.  The 12/2 w ground is just my way of saying it's not #10's for 220V, 12/2 w ground is not actually what the electrician is running, and  I edited my original post for clarification.  He is running  the electrical wiring in whatever...

Low Voltage underground conduit separation from 120V

I'll be running some underground PVC 1 1/4" conduit a distance of ~200' for low voltage wiring such as Cat 6 and Coax.  Also there will be a separate underground PVC conduit containing one or more electrical runs for some lighting, plugs, fans and circuits to an outdoor kitchen, all 120V.  There...

    Outdoor Rock Speakers, Wiring Questions

I'm running wire to two rock speakers and will be using one underground PVC electrical conduit to carry two separate 2 conductor cables.  The conduit run will leave the crawlspace of the home with an LB, down to a sweep fitting underground, then straight to the first speaker and coming up with...

4 Conductor Speaker Cable run for 2 Speakers, acceptable method?

Thanks for the replies folks.  This system will use Sonos Connect Amps, and I'll be using iPhones for volume control.    I thought about making a complete cut in the 4 conductor cable and then reconnecting the other pair that continues on to the next speaker with wire nuts or solder.  I dislike...

4 Conductor Speaker Cable run for 2 Speakers, acceptable method?

I ran a 4 conductor 14/4 cable from my amp to a room where I have 2 in ceiling speakers.  The cable loops at the closest speaker and then goes to the farthest speaker where it ends.  I plan to open the cable jacket with a razor knife at the speaker where the cable is looped and cut a pair of...

Bracket or Velcro 24 port switch inside cabinet?

Thanks.  I've seen the Legrand brackets and have used a few of those for things like battery holders, mounting pcb of alarm panels, etc. I guess the best thing to do is select a 24 port switch and go from there.

Bracket or Velcro 24 port switch inside cabinet?

Thanks, Bill, for the reply.  I have multiple 8 port gigabit switches in my own home and haven't noticed any major issues.  I agree, one switch with multiple ports would eliminate most trouble.  The system that I'm working on would have one 24 port unmanaged gigabit switch housed in a Legrand...

Bracket or Velcro 24 port switch inside cabinet?

Hi folks, I'd like to know what people do when installing a 24 port switch inside structured media cabinets.  Specifically, what make and model bracket, if you use one of those. Also, if you have a photo, that would be nice to see how you fit it in the can. I like to use Legrand's 4250 can and...

    Vented Knock-out Plugs?

I just received an email from Heyco.  If you visit their website www.heyco.com you can check out a list of their distributors.  Also, it appears you can place an order directly with Heyco.   Thanks everyone.

    Vented Knock-out Plugs?

BraveSirRobbin, I thought about that too.  But, I wanted something that would look prefabbed rather than something I did by hand.  I think Heyco has the solution and I hope they don't require a 100 minimum order.

    Vented Knock-out Plugs?

Thanks for all the replies.  I thought about the vents from Home Depot, and I looked at the Heyco website. The Heyco website has just what I need, but I don't know if Heyco sells through distribution or direct from the manufacturer.  I emailed them to find out and hopefully will have some...

    Vented Knock-out Plugs?

Hi folks, I have an Onq Legrand 28" structured media cabinet that is surface mounted, not recessed.  I'm using one of the side knock-outs to bring in my wiring.  The Onq Legrand SMC's have three 2.5" openings at the top of the cabinet to accommodate 2" conduit.  Onq sells knock-out plugs, but...

Cable Modem inside media cabinet...Heat concerns?

Thanks to all who replied. The Comcast modem is Comcast's property. I think I might do what Work2Play suggested, to install it remotely from the media cabinet and run it's wires back to the cabinet. Then, no concerns for excess heat and LEDS can be seen for status.

Cable Modem inside media cabinet...Heat concerns?

Hi folks, I'm wondering if there is any problem with installing an Arris TM402P cable modem (Comcast) inside a metal structured media cabinet. Specifically, is there a problem with heat. This will be in northern California, so it's a mild climate and the cabinet will be recessed in a closet...

How to plumb an Elk WSV?

Thanks. I have an acetylene tank and torch that I use for sweating copper fittings. Acetylene burns hotter than propane and I have a length of hose attached for soldering in tight spots.
