    Misbehaving wireless glassbreak device

Thanks @jcd for coming back to this! I did solve the problem though I honestly don't recall exactly what the issue was. As far as the announcements - @Sandpiper I appreciate that advice. Can I have it just make the door opening "tone" from the keypads instead of a voice announcement? Thank...

Advice in Designing new Elk System

Hi everyone - Thanks again for all the support a few months ago. System is up and running well at this point. Properly integrated with home assistant, All sensors appear to be functioning, no false alarms yet, etc. Overall I'm very happy with the system. I do have one issue I was hoping for...

    Misbehaving wireless glassbreak device

Hi again everyone - First, thank you for your help thus far. It's only because of his help that I have been able to get the system essentially up and running with minimal trouble! I have the most of about 30 wireless zones set up and working (minus a few nonfunctional sensors which I...

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

He sure did a great job. In some ways it has left me a little bit more confused than before. But it seems at least that I have crystal sensors and a receiver that should handle them. I'm hoping to get to programming them tomorrow, so I'll let you all know if any issues arise. I do have one...

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

Thanks RAL. What a sorted tale lol. House was built in 2015, so I guess it would make sense that the sensors are relatively new. You wouldn't know by how yellowed the plastic has gotten.... Are the "crystal" sensors considered to be the new standard then?

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

What a history! In planning on my system and trying to educate myself, I did see this variety of models. Unfortunately, I think I sort of dropped the ball in not realizing exactly which model I was purchasing. In any case come the majority of the sensors are window sensors. I popped one off...

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

@RAL and @jpmargis - thanks for the help. One additional question if you all don't mind. This is likely another stupid one... House has a bunch of GE/Interlogix sensors. I inherited a Elk M1XRF unit. As I read the manual it seems that this receiver is best for the "crystal" receivers...

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

That makes sense. Thank you so much for the explanation.

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

THanks @jpmargis . Stupid question time - so where does the power come from? And since these don't connect to the SAux - then how do I reset them?

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

Hey @RAL - I was able to pull up the info. Please note that I am dealing with what was left to me by the prior owner. To my knowledge, these are all home runs. It appears that each of these two lines goes to a BK-5603 smoke/heat detector - example here...

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

I did not run these, they were like this in the prior panel which I disassembled. 4 wires were previously connected to a Concord 4 panel so I don't know off hand the brand, etc but I do believe I have that info....

    Wiring 4 wire smoke detector

Hi all - First of all, one to thank everyone for their advice. I did end up obtaining a elk m1 system and I'm in the process of installing it. So far everything has been pretty straightforward, but I do have a question about how to properly wire a four-wire smoke detector system. My belief...

Advice in Designing new Elk System

I think I understand what you are saying here and the diagram is very helpful. I need to sit down and map it out but I do believe i see what you are saying. Thanks so much for taking the time.

Advice in Designing new Elk System

Makes sense. The issue is that these are pre-wired home-runs. I don't have an easy way to run an additional wire, and I'm not opening walls for this project. But what I know I could choose do is wire one of those KPs "through" the RF module assuming the location of the RF module works out...
