Yeah, plan to be a solo operation. Residential distributed audio, video, phone, network, structured wiring, and focusing on home automation and integration of systems. For now limiting to new construction. Already have relationships with general contractors and architects that will feed me jobs.

Thanks for the list and yes, I have a lot of experience, while making do with the tools I already owned. Now that I am kicking it up a level I wanted to see if there was anything I didn't already have that was considered "standard" pro equipment.

Just passed my California C-7 low voltage contractor license. Trying to plan my equipment purchases. Figure I'll need a network cable analyzer to certify my installs but what other equipment would you guys recommend / couldn't live without? Robolo

To be really "compliant" you should rerun the cable. Having said that you could probably use a punchdown splice box like this: splice junction box for Cat6

This is an interesting item I came across: A decora-style wall mounted temp sensor with readout. It has many options for output including 0-5 and 0-10 volt (you must select the desired output option when ordering). Check it out here. Looks like it sells for $115 without the Decora wall plate...

That is exactly correct. The KPCW-6 keypad only sends links to control other UPB switches. The KPLD-6 can also be connected directly to a light. It is like combining a KPCW-6 with a UPB switch. That is why the KPLD-6 is so much more expensive.
