Anyone know of a "blank" to cover a ceiling speaker hole?? The hole is 61/2". I can't find anything, trying not to have to sheetrock because it will be temporary.
If you use something like this make sure to box out the space above the ceiling to control air leakage if you haven't already. Check the specs for the exact opening size to see if they are compatible with your future speaker.
Yeah but they don't make them for a 61/2" hole so you end up having to widen the hole which defeats my purpose. I need to be able to put the same speakers back in.
They do make covers, as DEL mentioned, that could be used on a not so square hole. You may have to cut off one or two of the alignment tabs on the back but if you look around (if you haven't already) you may find one that might be able to be modified.
Just thought...I plumbing cleanout cover might be able to be used also....You could put a piece of scrap wood in the open hole and put one scrfew in the center... I have only ever seen them in stainless but maybe there are white ones out there, or you could paint them. As said just a thought.
Did some more searching:
Something like this might work for you. This is what DELinstallations was speaking of (I Believe):
It won't be dead center on the hole but still may cover the opening enough to do the job. You may have to cut the fixed tab a bit narrower to cover that edge of the circle.
I used a spring loaded plastic access panel cover to fill a round hole (fan) that is in my basement bathroom. Has 2 clips on one side and 1 on the opposite. Works fine, no cutting needed and adjusts to many holes.
