How does the Elk strobe connect to the M1G?

My goal would be to have the strobe come on when the alarm is triggered but then stay on until someone clears the alarm by entering in a user code? I assume that I would write a rule to do this.

Can I use Output 3? If so, is there anything special I need to do (other than writing the rule)?

It is as simple as connecting the Elk strobe to an available output and writing a rule. You do not need external power for the Elk strobe (some strobes do require external power)

Take note of the documentation that comes with the strobe. Elk lists a recommended maximum run time so it is probably a good idea to use a timer.

The Elk strobe requires 210ma and I believe that the outputs support 50ma...except output #3, which is rated for 4A. Si I was thinking that if I used output 3 then I wouldn't need anything else, whereas if I used one of the other outputs (beyond #3) then I would need a separate power source. Is this correct?

Yes. I found the same information and confirmed that I did wire it directly into output 3.

I had forgotten about that particular aspect of the installer. Output 3 is a direct connect, all other outputs will require additional power.

There is 1 form C relay (NO/NC) on the right side of the main board which you could use for that. I ran a wire from the +12 on the bottom left of the main control to that and then ran either the stroke or my siren off of that (can't remember which).
