Thanks for the responses... My garage is 212' away from the house, so I think running a speaker out there is out of the question without some sort of amp in the house.
In regards to the wireless motions and switches, I am not sure if the distance is enough to warrant a second wireless receiver...
I installed an Elk M1 Gold a few years ago in my house and it has been performing very well. All of my motions, door and window switches are all GE wireless. I also have two HAI Omnistats and control everything with rules and eKeypad.
I would like to extend the alarm out to a detached garage...
I have had two HAI Omnistat2s working great with my Elk M1G for almost a year when all of a sudden they stopped communicating with the ELK.
I have done the following:
- Triple checked the tstat address and comm settings (Serial/300 baud)
- Double checked the wiring from the stats to the panel...
I have been using this code for a few weeks now and I thought it was perfect until today.
I armed the system but realized I needed to do something else before leaving so I disarmed it. After a few minutes I realized the heater wasn't on even though it should have been. I figured out that by...
I was doing some searching today for some ELK M1 programming examples and I noticed that no matter what topic I was in even if it was a 5-year old topic, the Facebook bot would be reading the same topic that I was.
I started clicking random old/new topics and within 5 seconds, the Facebook bot...
I found the answer to my 'Pause' question. It appears to be very similar to the code for the double check. Rather than using almost the same amount of code to put in pauses, I'll just stick with the double check.
I was just worried that I was using too much code space, I just started playing...
This is what the code looks like for just the arming state and for only one thermostat. Should be easier to follow.
I'm not taking credit for coming up with this, I found it in a search on the forums here.
I like the double check, but I don't like how much code it takes to implement in my...
The 'double check' checks the value at the thermostat to see if it changed to what it was supposed to. If it didn't, it sends the command again and keeps checking every two minutes until the number is correct, then stops checking.
As far as putting a break between the temp change commands...
Actually the code sets the temperature then turns on an output for 2 mins. After 2 mins it checks the set temp and if it's not what it should be then it resets the temp and starts the output again.
If it checks the set temp after 2 mins and it is correct, then the whole loop comes to an end...
After doing some searching on ways to make my thermostat rule more reliable, this is what I came up with. This is my first somewhat complicated rule so I am sure that there is a more efficient way to do the same thing.
Besides for the fact that it is a little clunky, it also only controls the...
Is it a problem that the rule is changing both thermostats at pretty much the same time. Maybe it would be better if I put a counter between the calls to change the temp.
I could also write it to send the command a second time after a period of time but I really hope that this system doesn't...
I have had communication issues two of the last three days :(
I have rules set up to turn the temp down when the alarm is armed and back up when it is disarmed. Sometimes the rule works and sometimes it doesn't.
I just spent alot of time double checking every wire and it all checked out fine. I decided to start changing the baud settings to ones other than what the M1XSP instructions say it should be.
Can anyone think of any reason that it would work fine at 300 baud but not at 2400 like the M1XSP...
