Are you sure that this isn't the end point of a three-way circuit?
If so, two of the wires are travelers & will alternate which one is hot when the other switch in the three-way circuit is flipped.
Be careful.
This may or may not be an allowable topic, but I was wondering where others have purchased their Elk systems.
I don't envision that I need a lot of handholding with the install...and would be looking for value in the pricing.
After ~15 years, I think it's time to revisit my HA needs and wanted to get some thoughts with users that have experience in other systems/software packages.
I have mostly been a lighting/HVAC guy because we mostly lived away from our main home & wanted it to look "lived in" and be able to...
The thermostat does report when it enters a heating/cooling mode & fan state. I would have to pull out the reference guide (It's in the serial protocol description). Homeseer 2 and earlier had event triggers that used those state changes.
I know that Dean had pondered changing his business model before, but I wasn't at a place to invest the time relearning a new automation model/language. This is intriguing...and I assume that it integrates well with the ELK?
Thanks for the info.

Does the Elk software allow you to create events based upon the current operating mode reported by the thermostat?
In my Homeseer 2 setup, the thermostat would report that it was in stage 1 (or whatever) stage heat as an operating mode. I used that information to trigger other events. Since...
Sage doesn't support it directly, but it will work for channels that are flagged "copy-freely" via a (free) 3rd-party progam (SageDCT).
With my Cable service, I can get just about everything...except HBO, SHO....I use MCE to record/watch those programs.
Reading on the SAge forums, I was under the impression that it would work with SageMCTuner....

1. Make sure all the software on the extenders is current. I typically stick with the beta software and it seems to solve any issues that arise.
2. Windows updates seemed to cause problems with my setup. It would...
It appears that it can.
