I am using a small solar panel to provide power for some of my 12VDC computer accessories. I am also interested in powering a few landscape lights. I was looking for a way for Homeseer to control (ON/OFF) 12V devices so I purchased some 12V Elk relays (Elk-912B and Elk-924). The 924 relay is particularly interesting because it has a very low power requirement to trigger it (1.2mA). Since I am already using my 1-wire (xAP) network to monitor my solar stuff, I decided to look for a way to control the Elk924 relay with 1-wire.
Below is a diagram of the circuit I designed. There is also a photo of the finished module.
This circuit is interesting because it can be powered from a 12VDC solar system. No 120VAC transformers are needed.
I also use and like the Hobby-boards 4/8 channel 1-wire relay board, but for my application I only need 1 relay at each location.
