Access Control Issues with M1 Gold

I am trying to install a Virdi ac5000 Bimoetric Reader into a Ness M1 gold Single Door Module (ELK-M1KAM). i am using the wiegand outputs on the back of the AC5000 connecting into the M1KAM.

i have enabled 26bit wiegand on the bio reader but everytime i scan my finger no output fires through on the relay.

i am a NEWBIE here still studying my course for the moment so if you can help me that would be very appreciated, Thanks

There's a lot of info missing here... of course 1st is, do you have an M1 connected to the M1KAM? I highly doubt that device works standalone...  the KAM receives the input and sends it to the M1 for processing and if an approved user code is received, then it'll let the relay trigger.  There's setup done in the M1 to control the actions - and it has to be programmed accordingly.

If you *are* using an M1 as well, then you also need to know that a limitation of the KAM is that you can't enroll user codes from the KAM - so you'd have to know exactly which weigand data comes from scanning your fingerprint and use the calculator application to figure out what that translates into.  It's way easier to use a keypad to connect the weigand device to so you can enroll right from that spot.

If you're trying to do a standalone operation without using the M1 as a brain, you really should check out alibaba for some cheap electronics to play with.

You don't really need a keypad to enroll the weigand data, but it's not going to be an exercise for most. Generally speaking, you're going to use the prox calculator elk provides to converth the FC and credential into hex that the m1 can understand. The larger variable is how the reader passes the data out, where the starting bit, any parity and like is tossed into the mix.

Without knowing the start, stop and parity that is pushed out from the device, you're just assuming 26 bit weigand will work if it's dumped into the panel, which generally it's not, especially on smarter reader devices.

Thanks for the help guys, sorry for the lack of information.

So I have got the m1 gold hooked up to the databus hub and also the wireless reciever and the KAM which have all been enrolled correctly using cat 5 stranded and working correctly.

I previously installed a waterproof keypad/reader and wired it to the KAM which was working perfectly swiped the proxy alarm armed and disarmed and opened output, so after reading the AC5000 installation manual and not making much sense of it I installed it the same way I installed the keypad to no luck, I just cant wrap my head around this.

Ive also attempted to connnect bio to data bus and enrol it but didnt work either.

Thanks again guys

Assuming you didn't exceed the 10' limit from the KAM, then...your issue is the reader. You're going to need to configure what and how it's dumping the W26 data and what format/start bit/end bit/parity that it's dumping out on a valid read, as it's generating the entire W26 string itself, it's not just a swap for a standard reader and hope for the best.

There should be some configuration software or connection to configure the unit and/or a way to see the raw data it's sending to the M1, if any, on a valid read.
