Adding NX216E to NX8E

Hi all,

I recently purchased a NX216E to expand the inputs/zones on my NX8E.

Since I only need 8 more inputs right now, I plan to set switch position 6 to off.

However, in the NX216E manual, there are two Expander numbers (22 & 23) that both have a Starting Zone # of 9.

Should I just leave all of the switch positions OFF which will disable the second group of 8 zones and set the Expander # to 22.

Is this correct?

For the NX-216e settings you would want address #22 with starting zone of 9.

Switch1 through Switch5 are OFF

To disable the second group of eight on that expander set switch 6 to ON.

Wire the data bus as shown in the instructions. Power the system on and enter the program mode to enroll the new expander module (takes about 12 seconds).

You should now have 16 zones. Make sure you place an EOL resistor on any of the unused zones (if any of zones 1 through 16 are unused).

Hi BSR,

You were right. Switch 6 to On to disable the second 8 zones.

Got the NX216E installed and programmed without any problems.

Now, to add more sensors.
