Allow excess wire at wiring closet? What to do with it?

When I buit my house I left some extra wire at the wiring closet.  Now I am wanting to clean things up a bit and wondering what to do.  I figured some extra would be good if they were ever rerouted in the closet area to avoid splicing.  But with so many wire runs it doesn't look good.  I just coiled a turn or two about 12" in diameter above the panels.  I could tuck the coils on top of the suspended ceiling next to the closet to get them out of sight but thinking there must be a better way.

In the commercial world, which I've transposed into larger residential, we use panduit (finger duct) or install a trough. Granted it's not a finished looking item like basic wiremold, but it's a place to put service loops and jumpers.

Del,

That makes sense but I am still wondering about if I should leave some excess (I think so) and if so, how much is reasonable.  And for the Panduit or trough what specifically do you do with the excess?  Not sure what you mean by "service loops".  Some pics would be great if possible.

This is in an unfinished area so it doesn't have to look completely finished, just reasonably neat and orderly.  I have a tall 3' wide utility cabinet with doors that I am thinking about using - leaving the top off and opening up the bottom - maybe put some feet a few inches tall on it so it has some ventilation.  That would hide most of it and improve the SAF.  :)  I have excess wire both above the board and in the alarm panel now.  Probably went overboard on how much extra I have.

I think coiled (and labelled) above a suspended ceiling is an excellent solution.

Can you terminate the unused ones in the enclosure, on a patch panel of some sort?
