Anybody Familiar with act in Hingham MA ?? I'm looking to get some whole-house audio work done in Higham and was wondering if anybody has experience with these folks or has heard anything about them?

These guys are quoting .35 per foot for cat-5e (in other words $350 per thousand ft box). Isn't that kind of a big markup on the wire? It is $97 a thousand at home depot and as low as $70 a thousand on the internet. Since they are charging labor separately, what is the justification for 300%-500% markup on the wire?

I would assume there is always a markup, and maybe it isn't the same type of cable. Is it shielded/plenum rated?

They just emailed me back an answer saying they had quoted plenum rated for the entire job (no plenum rated is required on this job at all) and offered to back down to CL2 at 25 cents per foot. They also want $3,100 to pre-wire for an alarm system ($8K if they do the full install). I asked for a detailed breakdown on that. How does some wire, plastic boxes, and 1 day of Labor get to be $3,100 ?
